At LMDC Primary there are many opportunities for our pupils to take part in a variety of performances throughout the academic year. These include class assemblies, Christmas Carol Service(KS2), Nativity Play (KS1), Year Group Open days, The Guernsey Eisteddfod and Island wide performances with other primary schools coordinated by the Guernsey Music Centre.

We teach the children Music to:

  • arouse their interest in different styles of music, some that they will hear everyday and others that will be new to them - listening to music actively engages multiple areas of a person's brain so that it sets off 'fireworks'.
  • enable them to learn an instrument - the discipline of learning and practicing playing an instrument is our bodies way of doing a full workout as it uses all areas of the brain. As well as having an impact on emotions and fine motor skills the activity of playing an instrument has been proven to enhance memory functions.

The children at LMDC Primary have the opportunity to listen to music and to sing everyday.
