RE

Our intent is to expose children to the wide range of beliefs, values and traditions that exist within our Bailiwick community and beyond.  Using the Guernsey Agreed Syllabus for RE our children are able to learn about and learn from the world’s major religions and also approaches to living which are independent of religious belief.  The curriculum supports children to develop responsible, tolerant and accepting attitudes towards other people and their values and beliefs.

We want the children to:

  • study the following religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism
  • recognise and respect other non religious perspectives, eg, Humanism
  • recognise the need for mutual respect, tolerance and understanding of others beliefs, faiths and values
  • be encouraged to consider a range of viewpoints
