Seen and Heard Group

The Seen and Heard Group are the pupil group who take the lead in ensuring that the whole school is aware of the Rights Respecting Schools Award.

The group is made up of children from Year 3 to Year 6 , taking one child from each class.  All children in these year groups were given the opportunity to apply for the role.  The successful candidates chose the title of ‘The Seen and Heard Group’ as they felt that it was important to emphasise that all children should be both seen and heard.

The group has led assemblies to teach the school about their rights.   They put forward their ideas to help develop the Rights Respecting Action Plan. They work closely with Mrs Cooper, as the teacher leading the Rights Respecting Schools Award.  The group attend regular meetings to plan further actions.

We were also fortunate to be invited to meet with the former Bailiff, Sir Richard Collas, who gave the group a tour of the Royal Courts and told them about how children’s rights are upheld in Guernsey. The visit was very kindly organised by Mrs Sara Geall, who is our parent representative on the Seen and Heard Group.
