Year 5
Y5 have thoroughly enjoyed the new curriculum this year.
In Science we learnt about the life cycles of mammals, amphibians, birds and reptiles. We also looked at the life cycles of flowering plants and saw how the different parts of flowers are all connected for reproduction.

Guernsey is a very small Island that could be difficult to find if you were looking on a world map. We learnt about using latitude and longitude to locate places and reminded ourselves of important lines such as the Equator and the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. Using 4 figure grid references, we were able to locate places on maps.
Healthy eating, getting enough exercise and sleeping well all keep you healthy. In Design and Technology we adapted recipes to make them more healthy. After taste testing a variety of bolognese sauces, we made a healthier version, cutting out some fat and salt and adding in vegetables. In groups of four we then made the recipe, practising different methods of preparing and cooking food.

Many thanks to Paulo from the Sports Commission who helped us improve our badminton skills.
